El viaje que tiene programado Sebastián Piñera a Perú, ha traído varias especulaciones, es por ese motivo que el diputado PPD, Jorge Tarud, fue el primero en decir que era conveniente que el presidenciable de RN, no se dirigiera al país de Alan García. Debido a que el país vecino presentará una demanda ante el tribunal de La Haya por el asunto de la delimitación marítima. Tambien, mencionó que el empresario explicara el porqué de su visita a Perú.
Asimismo, el parlamentario dijo que, Chile no esta muy conforme con las acciones del ejecutivo peruano, porque realizan una demanda en La Haya. Desconociendo los tratados vigentes del 52 y del 54, que son ajustes en el tema de la delimitación marítima; así, Perú intenta despojar a Chile de 90 mil kilómetros cuadrados de mar.
Esos son los motivos que da Tarud, para que Piñera no realice su viaje, además expresa que su llegada le será de gran conveniencia al presidente peruano, Alan García. Igualmente, el diputado PPD, aconsejó que si él pretende ser el Presidente de Chile debe comprender las acciones de la diplomacia.
Sin embargo, existen parlamentarios que apoyan el viaje de Piñera, como el diputado del Partido Socialista, Marco Enríquez-Ominami, quien entendió la visita para acercar a ambos países.
Además, el diputado no está conforme con los dichos del diputado Tarud, y acota que no se critica el intento de hacer conexiones con otros países y que la acción de Piñera, en su política exterior le parece bien.
Al igual que Tarud, el senador PS Alejandro Navarro, dijo que Sebastián Piñera explique el impulso de su viaje.
