En el marco de la reunión en que la UDI definió sus candidatos a alcaldes y concejales para la Región del Maule, Prieto sostuvo que es respetuoso de las decisiones que tome la colectividad de quiénes serán sus candidatos.
“La Alianza ya decidió un candidato el año pasado con el patrocinio de un diputado. Conversé con la directiva a nivel nacional y me manifestaron que ya tenían al postulante por el municipio talquino. No le quiero hacer daño a la Alianza y le deseo suerte al candidato”.
En cuanto a sus proyecciones políticas, Prieto dijo que se sintió dolido en las últimas elecciones parlamentarias, puesto que el apoyo se trasladó hacia otro candidato. Sin embargo, no descartó presentarse como postulante a ocupar un sillón en el Congreso por algún distrito de la Región del Maule.
