Luis Cornejo, Jefe Provincial de Vialidad destacó que “como Ministerio de Obras Públicas nos sentimos satisfechos por la capacidad de reacción demostrada ante esta emergencia y superando algunos inconvenientes meteorológicos logramos dar cumplimiento a la restitución del tránsito vehicular en el Puente Merino”. Cornejo agregó que se continuarán realizando obras complementarias en el sector, para “evitar que se vuelva a repetir una situación similar”. Entre las medidas de seguimiento se contempla la visita al lugar del Director Regional de Puentes, el ingeniero Andrés Lara, quién evaluará la situación del puente y posteriormente “entregará un informe con sus apreciaciones a las autoridades pertinentes”.
La Gobernadora Gloria Rojas quien se encontraba en una reunión en Talca, manifestó que “gracias al arduo trabajo realizado por tantos trabajadores, se ha logrado volver a la normalidad en el sector de Upeo. Como autoridades continuaremos preocupados de las personas que viven en las inmediaciones del Puente Merino, como lo hemos hecho desde un principio”.
El Jefe Provincial de Emergencia, Edgardo Barra Guzmán destacó que “los compromisos de las altas autoridades se cumplen en los plazos establecidos, así se da tranquilidad a las personas” ya que el gobierno está trabajando respondiendo a las necesidades de la comunidad. Barra Guzmán indicó que los integrantes del Comité Provincial de Emergencia constantemente están monitoreando cada sector de la provincia, “incluso este martes 18 de julio, recorreremos junto a representantes de Obras Hidráulicas distintos puntos críticos, como por ejemplo los sectores de “Las 25”, “Rincón de Sarmiento”, Teno entre otros”, finalizó.
