Anteriormente su apertura se había realizado en Santiago, pero se quiere regionalizar este evento y esta gestión se pudo hacer gracias al Teatro Regional.
La primera vez que se efectuó este show fue en 1989 y su fin era homenajear a Guadalupe del Carmen, oriunda de la comuna de Chanco, la cual es que es una destacada cantante de rancheras.
El Municipio chanquino se encuentra a cargo de este festival, cuyo fin es estimular la música mexicana, fomentando el desarrollo cultural entre nuestro país y México.
En la oportunidad, se señaló que el Teatro Regional del Maule apoyó todo el trabajo de levantamiento del Teatro Municipal de Chanco, por lo que se efectuarán trabajos mutuos realizando actividades.
Aproximadamente en Abril se pretende inaugurar este recinto y para ello se presentarán cuatro eventos, como de música clásica con la orquesta y coro de la Universidad de Talca, obras teatrales, música rock y finalmente una misa criolla.
El Teatro Regional del Maule se preocupa por los distintos recintos culturales de la Región, por lo que organiza una serie de actividades a las comunas del Maule, por lo tanto se está fomentando habitualmente la cultura en la ciudadanía.
