El próximo sábado se dará el vamos en la Región de Valparaíso a la tradicional actividad, que reunirá a más de 1200 competidores de nuestro país, y que tiene en el nadador Michel Peñailillo a unos de los deportistas más destacados del Maule.

Y nuestra zona, como cada año, no podía estar ausente de tal evento. Es por eso que hoy se llevó a cabo en la Intendencia Regional una reunión –a modo de despedida- entre la máxima autoridad del Maule, Alexis Sepúlveda, directores de colegios, entrenadores y los propios deportistas que serán los protagonistas de estos juegos en la Quinta Región.
Doce son las especialidades deportivas que se disputarán en esta competencia internacional que se realiza desde 1998, entre las que destacan: atletismo, básquetbol, tenis, fútbol y natación, entre otras.
Y es justamente este último deporte el que puede brindar a la región mayores dividendos. Ello porque el máximo representante del Maule en la natación será Michel Peñailillo, quien viene llegando del Mundial Juvenil de Brasil realizado en agosto. Allí logró mejorar todas sus marcas y ubicarse entre los mejores treinta del planeta.
El joven de 17 años y que representa al Colegio Particular Montessori de Talca aseguró que saldrá a “romperla” en los juegos. “La temporada pasada saqué una medalla de oro, que fue una verdadera sorpresa. Ahora quiero llegar con muchos más premios y dejar en un buen lugar a nuestra región”, dijo
Respecto del apoyo que le ha brindado su establecimiento educacional para la realización de su deporte el joven manifestó que éste siempre ha sido incondicional.
Algo que para la directora del Colegio Particular Montessori, Carmen Gloria Mella, es un orgullo y ha sido, por años, el sello del establecimiento en cuanto a la formación de nuevos deportistas.
Sin ir más lejos, la directora manifestó que son el colegio de la región que más alumnos aportará a esta actividad ya que tendrán competidores en handball, gimnasia rítmica, natación y tenis de mesa.
1200 deportistas serán los representantes de Chile en los juegos Binacionales representando a cuatro regiones del país (V, VI, VII, RM).
