Fiscalía formalizó a ejecutivo de Licancel por contaminación y muerte de peces en río Mataquito

De acuerdo a la investigación de la Fiscalía, el imputado habría aceptado y avalado la decisión de continuar descargando riles de la empresa Licancel al río Mataquito, pese a conocer el comportamiento e implicancias medioambientales de la descarga.

La Fiscalía de Licantén formalizó ayer al ingeniero civil químico, Gustavo Bernardo Kroll Spichiger, en calidad de autor de hechos cometidos los días 3 y 4 de junio de 2007, sancionados en la Ley de Pesca y que significaron la muerte de miles de peces del río Mataquito.
En audiencia pública realizada en el Juzgado de Garantía de Licantén, el fiscal José Alcaíno, le comunicó al imputado que la Fiscalía lo investiga por los hechos ocurridos cuando se desempeñaba como jefe del área de Hornos y Cautificación, en cuya calidad habría aceptado y avalado la decisión de continuar descargando riles de la empresa Licancel al río Mataquito. Dicha conducta la habría efectuado, pese a conocer el comportamiento y las implicancias medioambientales que provocaría la descarga.
En esta causa también se encuentra formalizado por la misma infracción, el ingeniero Erasmo Eduardo Quezada Leigthon, en su calidad de gerente responsable de la planta productora Licancel. Este imputado, en conocimiento de los procesos productivos y sus implicancias medioambientales, habría ordenado una serie de acciones que en su conjunto, provocaron que la laguna de tratamiento de efluentes de la planta, no cumpliera su función de neutralizar las características químicas de los residuos industriales que allí se almacenan, previo a su desagüe al cauce.
La investigación de la Fiscalía permitió determinar que dichas acciones contaminaron químicamente el río, causando daños a sus recursos hidrobiológicos, provocando una disminución en el oxigeno disuelto en sus aguas, al punto de hacer inviable la vida de los peces.
